Travel To Boracay Island via 2GO Travel

Friday, July 15, 2016

I know summer is finally over but it doesn't stop you to go to Boracay Island and experience the food and night life waiting for you. But with the cost of airfare from different airline it will add to your travel expenses more, plus looking for cheaper fare was too fast to sold out.

I had a chance to travel to Boracay Island last year and experience travelling via 2Go Ferry. This is my first time to travel via ferry and calm myself for 10 hours knowing I'm in the middle of the sea. Can you believe that I even brought my own life vest and whistle, Rose of Titanic lang ang peg. Laughs.

Anyway, I will share with you guys an alternative way to travel to Boracay Island for much cheaper price via 2GO Travel.

2GO Travel have 2 daily trips going to Boracay Island from Batangas Port to Caticlan Jetty Port. You can choose between 10 am or 9 pm. And just like I said, 10 hours is the travel time. So if you're not in rush, 2GO Ferry is a great option.

But I suggest you book for the evening schedule, why? 10 hours of travel time is really boring so might as well spend that time sleeping while your travelling. You'll have energy in the morning to explore Boracay Island.

You have to be on Batangas Port 1 hour before your time departure. To get to Batangas port here's link of different route how to commute.

Leaving Batangas Port

There are five types of room accommodation depends on the type of ferry or name of the ferry you have book. As for my experience the ferry we had have 3 types of accommodation.

Cabin Class

Good for 4 person,it has 2 double deck bed with linen and pillows. Fully airconditioned room with TV and has its own private toilet and baths. Good for barkada. The cost is around P 1,032 per person one way. Meals included but depends on the ferry schedule. Vat/tax not yet included.

Tourist Class

This is what we avail, the cost is around P 702.33 and vat/tax not yet included. Meals included on the ticket fare but depends on the ferry schedule. The beds have no linen and you need to redeem it to the staff assigned by presenting your ID and ticket as deposit, claiming your ticket and ID after you surrender the bed linen before departure. Double deck with partition on each bed for privacy.

One of my officemates tried the life vest.
Every bed has 3 types of life vest so you are assured on your safety. And also the tourist accommodation is fully air conditioned room but bring your own jacket or extra kumot because some part of the area is too cold.

Economy Class

This is also a double deck bed accommodation like the tourist class but no partition for privacy and no air condition but open and airy so you could feel and sea breeeze. It cost around

Once you enter the ferry you will be welcome by the bright pink and green interior and staff accommodate your needs.

There is a mini convenience store, Quick Mart. I redeem my free meal in the morning at Horizon Cafe. The price is too expensive its better to bring your own food. Plus they combine island fiesta and sea breeze during night time for live band entertainment. You can chill and order some alcoholic drinks if you want.

My office mates having a good time.

Since this is my first time travelling on a ferry its good know that my anxiety was gone after our departure at Batangas Port, I thought that I am going to have a seasickness while sailing plus the fact that we were in the middle of the sea. But my fear was gone, the ferry sails smoothly, no big waves and I'm comfortable to sleep around midnight knowing that 2GO Ferry is safe and secure.

We survive the 10 hour travel.
We finally arrive at Caticlan Jetty Port around 8 am. Then you need to pay necessary fee like terminal and environmental fees around arrival.

All in all I am glad that I survive the long hours of travelling via sea. This is a must try if you want to save money going to Boracay instead of paying for expensive airfare.

Tips for travelers who wants to try 2GO Travel.

  • Even if the food is included on your fare or not you can bring your own food and drinks to save some money.
  • Bring thicker linen/kumot because the air conditioned especially on Tourist Class is really cold.
  • Do not leave your bags unattended.
  • To avoid seasickness take a medicine one hour before departure.
  • If you purchase your ticket online and pay using credit/debit card bring the necessary documents to avoid any delay.

For tickets and schedule you may visit 2GO website for details.
